What This Calculator Includes
The calculator separates application preparation costs from settlement costs. Preparation costs usually include language testing, educational credential assessment, medical exams, biometrics, police certificates, translations, courier fees, and government processing fees. Settlement costs include flights, temporary housing, rent deposits, basic furniture, phone plans, transit, winter clothing, and emergency reserve.
Why Proof of Funds Is Different From Total Cost
Proof of funds is the amount some applicants must show to IRCC to prove they can support themselves after arrival. It is not the same as the full cost of immigration. A candidate can meet the proof-of-funds rule but still underestimate real arrival costs if housing, flights, childcare, licensing, or job-search time are ignored.
How to Use the Estimate
Use the result as a conservative planning number. If your pathway is Express Entry, check whether proof of funds applies to your program and family size. If you are applying through a provincial nominee program, verify whether the province has its own settlement-fund expectation. If you are a student or worker, calculate tuition, permit fees, family costs, and living expenses separately.
Best Next Step
After estimating your cost, compare it with the official fee table and your target article: Cost of Immigrating to Canada, Cost of Express Entry Canada, and Express Entry Proof of Funds.
